Not Renewing My Internet Domain - www.mchemnitz.com
I will not be renewing my Internet domain, www.mchemnitz.com, so the MP3 links will not work anymore. I will be uploading the hymns via my Vimeo account.

St. Anne's Moseley Organ MIDI Note Stop Configuration
The stops on the St. Anne's Moseley organ are controlled by different MIDI notes as follows. The only one I could not find a MIDI note for is the Great and Pedal Pistons Coupled.

IK Multimedia CSR Studio Reverb Unit Applies Better Reverb
The first two recordings I produced, hymn 603 and 263, from The Lutheran Hymnal (1941) were made using a cheap reverb unit that came with Music Creator 5, but I now have a more expensive reverb program, IK Multimedia's CSR Studio Reverb, that came with Notion 3 (a music notation program) that I figured out how to install. The first recording to use this better reverb unit was hymn 140. I will try to redo 603 and 263 when I get a chance.

The Lutheran Hymnal (1941) - Hymn 140 - Jesus, I Will Ponder Now
"Jesus, I Will Ponder Now"
1. Jesus, I will ponder now
On Thy holy Passion;
With Thy Spirit me endow
For such meditation.
Grant that I in love and faith
May the image cherish
Of Thy suffering, pain, and death,
That I may not perish.
2. Make me see Thy great distress,
Anguish, and affliction,
Bonds and stripes and wretchedness
And Thy crucifixion;
Make me see how scourge and rod,
Spear and nails, did wound Thee,
How for man Thou diedst, O God,
Who with thorns had crowned Thee.
3. Yet, O Lord, not thus alone
Make me see Thy Passion,
But its cause to me make known
And its termination.
Ah! I also and my sin
Wrought Thy deep affliction;
This indeed the cause hath been
Of Thy crucifixion.
4. Grant that I Thy Passion view
With repentant grieving
Nor Thee crucify anew
By unholy living.
How could I refuse to shun
Every sinful pleasure
Since for me God's only Son
Suffered without measure?
5. If my sins give me alarm
And my conscience grieve me,
Let Thy cross my fear disarm,
Peace of conscience give me.
Grant that I may trust in Thee
And Thy holy Passion.
If His Son so loveth me,
God must have compassion.
6. Grant that I may willingly
Bear with Thee my crosses,
Learning humbleness of Thee,
Peace mid pain and losses.
May I give Thee love for love!
Hear me, O my Savior,
That I may in heaven above
Sing Thy praise forever.

Taking Some Time To Read Up On Organ Registration
I'm taking some time to read this book on organ registration, but will try to post some music soon.
My Hauptwerk Setup
The pipe organ music you find on this blog was produced using a VSTi (Virtual Studio Technology instrument) called Hauptwerk. Here is a view of what the console looks like when open in Cakewalk Music Creator 5.
In order to control the console and make it play music I use Noteworthy Composer 2. Each staff in Noteworthy is tied to the manuals and pedal. The swell manual is on MIDI channel 3, great manual is on MIDI channel 2, and the pedal board is on MIDI channel 1.
The MIDI interface between Hauptwerk and Noteworthy is MIDI Yoke. In Noteworthy I changed the staff properties to use MIDI Yoke as the playback device so the information gets routed to the organ.
The MIDI channels on the VSTi must correspond to the same ones used on the individual staves in Noteworthy.
The stops on the organ are also controlled by different MIDI notes, but I will cover that in separate post.
I open Hauptwerk in my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), Cakewalk Music Creator, in order to apply reverbation to the sound and give it some ambience, otherwise the sound is very "dry."

The Lutheran Hymnal (1941) - Hymn 263 - O Little Flock, Fear Not the Foe
"O Little Flock, Fear Not the Foe"
1. O little flock, fear not the Foe
Who madly seeks your overthrow;
Dread not his rage and power.
What though your courage sometimes faints,
His seeming triumph o'er God's saints
Lasts but a little hour.
2. Be of good cheer; your cause belongs
To Him who can avenge your wrongs;
Leave it to Him, our Lord.
Though hidden yet from mortal eyes,
His Gideon shall for you arise,
Uphold you and His Word.
3. As true as God's own Word is true.
Not earth nor hell with all their crew
Against us shall prevail.
A jest and byword are they grown;
God is with us, we are His own;
Our victory cannot fail.
4. Amen, Lord Jesus, grant our prayer;
Great Captain, now Thine arm make bare,
Fight for us once again!
So shall Thy saints and martyrs raise
A mighty chorus to Thy praise,
World without end. Amen.

Input From Experienced Organists Welcome!
If you are an experienced organist/musician please feel free to make recommendations on how my pipe organ recordings could be improved by using different stop combinations and composing better preludes. I am not an organist myself and have only a very basic knowledge of music, so anything I put out is going to be very simple, but hopefully that will change with time as I learn more.
In order to view the scores I put together you will need the the Noteworthy Composer Viewer which can be downloaded for free here. If you want to the ability to edit the .NWC files you will need to buy the notation program Noteworthy Composer 2, which is only $49.00. There are much more expensive notation programs like Sibelius 6, but I've found Noteworthy to be sufficient for my needs.
My e-mail address is in my Blogger profile if you want to send me an e-mail.

Providing Pipe Organ Hymn Recordings
The purpose of this blog is to provide hymn recordings made on the Hauptwerk (http://www.hauptwerk.com/) virtual pipe organ. I am not an organist or experienced musician, but I love music, especially on the pipe organ so I put this simple blog together to post my creations in the hope other Christians would be edified by them as well.
Since I am not an experienced organist or musician I will post the Noteworthy Composer (.nwc) file along with the PDF of the sheet music I arranged for the organ, so if anyone who has more experience playing the organ wants to suggest changes they can send me an e-mail, which is posted on my Blogger profile.
